Also known as a metering roller, a dosing roller is a drum with spikes of varying sizes that is designed to fluff, dose, meter or spread material flowing from the hopper into a star screen deck.
The feeding area is the portion of the hopper that feeds material into the screening area.
The Infeed Hopper includes the hopper, the hopper feed belt and in star screens, a dosing roller. It is the first thing to greet the feedstock as the feed rollers pull the feedstock into the machine for screening.
The trommel opening is where the material first enters the drum. It first passes through the hopper, then arrives in the trommel drum where it is screened.
